Janice (Campbell) Nelson

Janice (Campbell) Nelson of Poulsbo died Nov. 28, 2007. She was 88.

Nelson was born in Seattle on March 4, 1919.

She married Leslie on June 11, 1939 in Port Gamble.

Nelson graduated from North Kitsap High School.

She worked at the 1st National Bank of Poulsbo, and then later as the secretary to the principal at NKHS for 20 years.

Nelson enjoyed gardening and flower arranging. She was a member of the Ne-si-ka Garden Club, P.E.O. Chapter GI, the Slick Chicks and Poulsbo First Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Deborah Circle.

Nelson is survived by sons Gregg (Judy) Nelson of Kenmore and Scott (Diana) Nelson of Boise, Idaho; daughter Marcia (Robert) Permut of St. Joseph, Mo.; son-in-law Ted Messett of Bellvue; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Nelson was preceded in death by her husband Leslie and her daughter Susan.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 8 at Poulsbo First Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Lutheran’s Flower Fun or Youth Group, Hospice of Kitsap County or the charity of one’s choice.
