James J. VanRuth, 59

James John VanRuth died May 5, 2006 in Poulsbo. He was 59.

VanRuth was born to Donald and Iola (Long) VanRuth in Bremerton on Oct. 16, 1946.

He married Anita L. Meeker on Sept. 15, 1979 in Virginia City, Nev.

VanRuth served in the Navy from 1964 to 1970.

He enjoyed designing and maintaining his yard and spending time at Snow Creek.

VanRuth is survived by his wife Anita VanRuth of Poulsbo; daughter Jamey VanRuth of Bremerton; brothers Joe VanRuth and John VanRuth of Bremerton; sister Judy Case of Bremerton; stepfather Pete Welch of Bremerton; father-in-law Orville Meeker of Port Orchard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

VanRuth was preceded in death by his son Donald VanRuth, his sister Jacqueline VanRuth and his parents, Donald and Iola VanRuth.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. May 11 at Stone Chapel in Poulsbo.
