James Russell “Rusty” Hovda of Poulsbo died March 15. He was 48. Hovda was born in Germany on Sept. 5, 1960 to James and Darla Hovda.
Rusty was a loving husband and brother, true friend and a dedicated employee. He worked for the Washington State Ferries at Bainbridge, Coleman, Kingston, Mukilteo and Clinton docks. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and had a quick wit that brought many to laughter.
Hovda is survived by his wife Tonyalee, stepson Christian, stepdaughter Melissa, granddaughter Ella, siblings Tammy (Rob), Pam, Ron (Gretchen),Cliff (Rhadell) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering took place at Bainbridge Commons 370 Brien Drive on March 22. A celebration of life is scheduled for the summer.
