Jack K. Webb of Poulsbo died July 25 at his home. He was 78.
He was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Summerville, Ga., to Thurber and Carrie Webb. He attended and graduated from Menlo High in 1948 in Menlo, Ga. He married Sarah Ayers on Sept. 22, 1951, in Ringold, Ga.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a commander in the submarine service achieving many awards: Good Conduct, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Expeditionary National Defense Meritorious Unit Citation, China Service Medal, Navy Achievement and Navy Occupation Service. He served aboard Sea Dog, Thornback, Sennet Howard W. Gilmore and submarine tenders.
He retired from his Navy career after 30 years of service in 1980.
Webb also was an owner of EG&G ladies wear in Poulsbo. He was a member of Rotary and Chamber of Commerce in Poulsbo. He enjoyed gardening, reading books, newspapers and magazines. He especially enjoyed relaxing at home on his deck. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marge Johnson, brother, James, and sister in law, Joyce.
Surviving are his beloved wife: Sarah of Poulsbo; sons: Ken (Laurel) and Steve; and grandchildren: Sarah, Lindsey, and Jeremy.
