Glenna Zinger

Glenna A. Zinger, 88

Poulsbo resident Glenna Alyne Zinger died Nov. 25, 2005 in Bremerton. She was 88.

She was born to Charles and Martha Doubles in Carlyle, Mont. on April 6, 1917.

She married Ed Zinger on June 14, 1970 in Fontana, Calif.

Zinger graduated from high school in Golva, N.D., from college in Green Bay, Wis. and earned a master’s degree from California State College, in Los Angeles.

She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Fontana, Calif. school district for 25 years until her retirement.

Zinger enjoyed gardening, traveling, bridge and pinochle and spending time with her friends at the North Kitsap Senior Center and family. She also volunteered at Hearty Meals at Silverdale Lutheran.

Zinger is survived by her son Lowell Hillius of Fontana, Calif.; daughter Mavis Sloman of Poulsbo; brothers Bud Doubles of Silverdale and Ralph Doubles of Apache Junction, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Zinger, son and daughter-in-law Darrell and LaRae Hillius and great-grandson Jeremy Hehr.

Services were held Nov. 29 at Silverdale Lutheran. Memorial gifts can be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
