Gerald Arthur Vaughan

Jan. 16,1932 - Jan. 25, 2017

The seventh of seven, the baby of his family, Gerald “Jerry” Vaughan, died in Silverdale, Washington, on January 25, 2017. He was born in Longview, Washington, to Daniel and Catherine Browne Vaughan on January 16, 1932, and moved with his family, at age 14 to Seattle. He graduated from Seattle Prep and Seattle University. He met Jane, dear wife, and mother of his four children, Cynthia, Bonnie, Joe and Patrick in San Francisco and moved to Bakersfield to become the “land man” for a series of oil companies. Following Jane’s death, he relocated to Santa Rosa, California, where he met Hollace Archer. Many years later, after reconnecting with Hollace, the two were married on Harrahs yacht in Emerald Bay on Lake Tahoe in August, 2002. They lived first in Sebastopol, California, and then moved back to his beloved home of Washington state. He had just celebrated his 85th birthday and had a great life. He will be remembered for his sense of style and sense of humor, neither of which ever left him. Seattle Prep yearbook of 1946 rated him snappiest, and snappy he was indeed.

He was a great sailor, golfer, basketball player, historical (hysterical) writer, plus music and martini lover. Lots of loved ones are enjoying him now, as is Maxfield, his dear cat.

The staff and residents at the Ridge in Silverdale were a new love of his life and he was able to spend his last breaths in their love. His family and he thank them, from our hearts. His humor kept everyone awaiting the next funny.

Please make donations, in his honor, to either the Alzheimer’s Association or Seattle University. An online memorial can be seen at www.poulsbomortuary.com
