Einar C. Nordberg Jr., 57

Einar C. Nordberg Jr. of Poulsbo died Sept. 29, 2004 in Poulsbo. He was 57.

Nordberg was born to Einar C. Sr. and Nema (Dunlap) Nordberg in Bremerton on Aug. 19, 1947.

He married Sharon L. Cole in 1993.

Nordberg graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1966.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967-1971 and Ready Reserve from 1971-1973. He completed two tours of duty in Vietnam and received medals including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Vietnam Service Medal with two M-14 and 45 caliber marksman badges, Combat Action Ribbons and the RVN Cross of Gallantry with palm and frame.

Nordberg worked at the Naval Torpedo Station in Keyport before joining the construction industry with his brother Cliff Johnson. He retired in 1993.

He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, wood working, camping, cooking, gardening and spending time with his family, friends and dog Chuy.

Nordberg is survived by his wife Sharon; sons Josh (Donna) of Beaverton, Ore. and Ryan Eliason of Seattle; daughter Andrea (Gregg) Richards of Fife; brothers and sisters Doody Currie, Ellen Porter, Cliff Nordberg, Vern Stevens, Lila Berg, Melba Vinson, Ernie Johnson, Cliff Johnson, Linda Cooper, Elva Shipley, Jerry Nordberg, Delbert Nordberg and Karla Rogers; and six grandchildren.

A celebration of his life and a gathering of friends and family will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Jackson Park Community Center in Bremerton.

His ashes will be scattered at a private ceremony at sunset along Dungeness Spit. A memorial marker will be placed at Tahoma National Cemetery.
