Edith Mariona Crabtree formerly of Poulsbo died Dec. 3, 2007. She was 81.

Crabtree was born to Howard and Ivis Olden in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 25, 1926.

She married Vernon Crabtree in 1945.

Crabtree graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1944, and earned a certificate as a licensed practical nurse from Olympic College in 1964.

She served in and was honorably discharged from the Third Women’s Army Corps.

Crabtree enjoyed reading, music, singing, playing the autoharp and piano, embroidery, crochet, knitting, needlepoint, sewing and quilting. She volunteered at the library as a reader for the blind, and earned awards at the Kitsap County Fair. She was a member of the St. Charles Episcopal Church in Poulsbo.

Crabtree is survived by her son Dee (Donna) Crabtree of Marfa, Texas; daughter Phyllis (Chris) Stewart of Ridgecrest, Calif.; brother Joseph Olden of Hazen, N.D.; grandchildren Paige (Ken) Schaefer of Albuquerque, N.M., Christine Wetzel of Federal Way and Mike (Leisha) Wetzel of Ridgecrest, Calif.; and great-grandchildren Emily and Rachel Wetzel of Ridgecrest, Calif.

Crabtree was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, daughter Ivis and brothers Noel and David Olden.
