Dorothy M. Kasnick, 90

Poulsbo resident Dorothy M. Kasnick died Oct. 20, 2005 on Bainbridge Island. She was 90.

She was born to Christie and Minnie (Benson) Iverson in Skamokawa on Nov. 30, 1914.

Kasnick married Alfred Kasnick on July 24, 1937 in Poulsbo.

She grew up in Poulsbo and graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1933.

Kasnick was a devoted homemaker and military wife.

She was a member of the Friends of Skamokawa Historical Society, Poulsbo Historical Society and Vinland Lutheran Church. She was the granddaughter of Peter and Josephine Iverson who established the Kitsap County Herald in Poulsbo.

She is survived by sister Muriel Williams of Poulsbo; children Richard (Ismenia) Kasnick of Pela, Honduras, Tom (Valerie) Kasnick of Santa Rosa, Calif., Pat (Edith) Kasnick of Woodinville and Kay (Michael) Gearllach of Poulsbo; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, four nephews and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred Kasnick sisters Barbara Ditmer and Maxine Bartrow and grandson Brian Kasnick.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 29 at Vinland Lutheran Church, 2750 Finn Hill Road in Poulsbo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Fund at Vinland Lutheran Church.
