Doris Carolyn (Hoffman) Hirschi of Silverdale — formerly of Port Gamble — died May 16. She was 83.
She was born Jan. 4, 1926 in Galveston, Texas, to William and Carolyn Hoffman. She married Glenn Hirschi in Galveston and they moved to their first home in Port Gamble. They most recently lived at Treetop Apartments in Silverdale.
Hirschi worked as a salesclerk at Bremer’s Department Store, JC Penny’s and Kahn’s Men’s Store. She was a former member of the Kitsap Garden Club, Children’s Orthopedic Hospital Guild and Altar Society. In her younger days she enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and gardening. Her most recent hobbies were bird watching, shopping and watching “Deal or No Deal.” She loved her pet poodle BG who is now deceased.
Hirschi was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. She is survived by her husband, Glenn; daughter, Pam (Bill) Gremmert; son Ron (Brenda) Hirschi; grandchildren, Tom Stewart, Lisa (Dan) Pedrin, Matt Gremmert, Nichol (Scott) McKeag; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Laverne Hirschi and sister-in-law, Alma.
