David E. Olson, 72

David E. Olson of Poulsbo died on April 17, 2004. He was 72.

Olson was born to Emery J. and Cherrie (Freeburg) Olson Feb. 9, 1932 in Seattle.

Olson married Joyce R. (Conrad) Olson on Aug. 16, 1953 in New Orleans, La.

He graduated from North Kitsap High School in 1950.

Olson served in the United States Navy from 1951-1954 and earned the National Defense Service Medal.

He worked as a tugboat captain for Pope and Talbot for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Inland Boatmen’s Union of Seattle.

Olson enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball, coaching Little League and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Joyce R. (Conrad) Olson of Poulsbo; sons Michael J. (Betsy) Olson of Poulsbo, Dennis E. Olson, Randy D. (Leah) Olson of Bremerton, Alan J. (Millie) Olson of Yakima and Ray M. (Tresa) Olson of Tacoma; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother Daryl and son Douglas James.

Inurnment took place at the Breidablik Cemetery and arrangements were handled by the Stone Chapel at Cherry Grove in Poulsbo.
