Danny Edward Olsen, 67

Danny Olsen of Poulsbo died Oct. 13. He was surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Olsen was born April 13, 1941, in Seattle to Mary and Holvdan Olsen. He grew up in Seattle, graduating from Ballard in 1959 and the University of Washington in 1968.

He served proudly and with honor in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962. He had a distinguished and enjoyable career with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard where he worked as an engineer from 1968-1997.

Olsen enjoyed trips to Europe, Central and South America, especially to Mazatlan.

He also enjoyed visits to the zoo, accompanied by family.

Olsen is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beth; sons Richard, Jeffery and Peter; stepdaughters Heidi (Jon) Andrews and Gretchen (Darrell) Dunmire; 10 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; sister Dorothy (Walsh); brothers Robert, Stanly, Ronald, Kenneth, Gary Olsen and Martin (Ski) Lavin.

Olsen was preceded in death by his brother Harold and sister Bjorg (Sherwin).

The family would like to give special thanks to the Harbor House staff for the extraordinary care given to Olsen.

A celebration of life will be held Nov. 8. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Alzheimer’s Association of Western Washington or Point Defiance Zoo, Tacoma in the name of Danny E. Olsen.
