C.P. ‘Phil’ Campbell

‘Phil’ Campbell, 90

Poulsbo resident C.P. “Phil” Campbell died Aug. 4, 2006 in Poulsbo. He was 90.

Campbell was born to Walter and Helga (Matson) Campbell in Flushing, N.Y. on Sept. 7, 1915.

He married Helen M. Gross on Dec. 17, 1949 in Bremerton.

He worked for 20 years with the State of Washington Veterans’ Administration in Bremerton, after retiring as a chief warrant officer in the Navy for 32 years. He was also a past president of the The Sons of Norway.

Campbell joined the Navy on Jan. 23, 1935 and served in World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War before retiring on Oct. 31, 1966.

He enjoyed skiing, golf, stamp collecting and his beloved dogs, Cisco and Flip.

Campbell is survived by his wife Helen Campbell of Poulsbo; son Phil (Liz) Campbell of Poulsbo; two grandchildren; and special friends Capt. Robert Taylor, the Capt. Craig Austad family, the Hanson family and the Sheehy family.

Campbell was preceded in death by his brother Walter Campbell.

A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 10, 2006 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Poulsbo. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 11, 2006 at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
