Bessie B. Gray, 86

Bessie Brigham Gray of Poulsbo died Aug. 26, 2004 in Bremerton. She was 86.

Gray was born to Neil H. and Florence P. (Eastabrooks) Brigham Aug. 26, 1918 in Seattle.

She married childhood friend Frank P. Gray on Jan. 5, 1940 in Seattle.

Gray graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle in 1936 and studied organic chemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle.

She was a volunteer aircraft observer during World War II, was a certified Braille transcriber and a music transcriber for the Library of Congress. She was also a homemaker.

Gray enjoyed music (played the piano and the flute), gardening, sewing, knitting and spending time with her family.

Gray is survived by her husband Frank P. Gray of Poulsbo; son Walter F. (Ella) Gray of Seattle; daughter Sally J. Gray of Silverdale; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Peter W. Gray.

At her request, no funeral services will be held.
