Baker Letha

Letha Baker, 92

Letha Elizabeth Mitts Baker of Poulsbo died Sept. 12, 2005 in Poulsbo. She was 92.

Baker was born in Capron, Okla. on June 26, 1913.

She married her college classmate Elton Baker.

She earned master’s degrees in Spanish and English after receiving a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, English and music.

Baker was a veteran lecturer on nutrition and writer of eight books on nutrition and two novels.

She also taught Spanish and French at North Kitsap High School.

She and her husband traveled and lived in South America and Asia. She also made seven trips to the Dominican Republic to teach nutrition.

Baker is survived by sons Ronald (Peggy) Baker and David (Carol) Baker; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elton Baker.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Indianola Living Hope Church.
