Arlin K. Kirkpatrick, 63

Arlin Kenneth Kirkpatrick died July 23, 2006 in Port Orchard. He was 63.

Kirkpatrick was born to Montie and Gladys Kirkpatrick in St. Louis, Mo. on July 15, 1943.

He married Sylvia Ann Alf on June 17, 1994 in Bremerton.

Kirkpatrick graduated from Carmi High School in Carmi, Ill. in 1961 and earned a degree in computer science from the University of Utah in 1971.

He taught mathematics and computer science for 16 years at Olympic Community College from 1990 until his death.

He served in the Navy from 1962 to 1984, retiring as a chief petty officer. Most of his military career was spent either aboard, supporting or teaching about submarines.

He loved to teach and he played contract bridge in his spare time. He was also a very visible member of Adventure of Faith Church.

Kirkpatrick is survived by his wife Sylvia of Port Orchard; son Monty (Jenn) Kirkpatrick of Kingston; daughter Dawn Kirkpatrick of Bremerton; stepson Trevor Park Jones of Tacoma and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 7, 2006, at Adventure of Faith Church, 4705 Jackson Ave. in Port Orchard.
