Dear North Kitsap Herald reader,

The North Kitsap Herald is proud to be your newspaper. We’ve been the Voice of North Kitsap since 1901.

In 2012, we were named a Newspaper of the Year by the Local Media Association, a nationwide organization of suburban newspapers. In 2011, our North Kitsap Almanac won first place for cover design in a contest sponsored by Suburban Newspapers of America. In addition, in those two years the Herald won 23 awards for reporting, feature writing, print and online photography, and advertising design from the Washington Newspaper Publishers Association.

The Herald is delivered every Friday to every household in North Kitsap — more than 12,500 copies. The Herald is supported in part by voluntary subscriptions. If you have already subscribed, we thank you. If you haven’t, please consider subscribing today. Your subscription helps pay for the carriers that get the paper delivered from the press to your home, no matter the weather.

The Herald is a printed record of the local events and decisions that affect our lives. We also keep you updated daily via Facebook, Twitter, and No need to wait for election results, traffic and weather updates, or breaking news that you need or want now. That’s our job — to keep you informed when you need it most.

But we can’t do it alone. Your subscription supports local journalism — and those carriers who get the newspaper to you every Friday morning. Subscribe today by calling (360) 779-4464 (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), or go to

While you’re doing that, our award-winning staff will be out there bringing you stories about news, events and people that matter to you. Enjoy the read!

One more request — please support Herald advertisers. Let them know you appreciate seeing their ads in the Herald. Remember to always shop locally when you can. It’s important to keep your dollars local.

In appreciation,
