WSP seeks witnesses to fatal hit-and-run in Poulsbo

Washington State Patrol detectives are seeking witnesses to a vehicle vs. pedestrian fatal collision the morning of Dec. 9 on the offramp to Finn Hill Road in Poulsbo.

The fatal collision possibly occurred during the hours of darkness from the evening of Dec. 8 to the next morning on northbound Highway 3 at milepost 52, involving an unknown vehicle and pedestrian, a WSP news release states. The dead pedestrian was found on the shoulder of the road by a passerby.

The pedestrian was identified as 35-year-old male Robert P. Rathvon of Camano Island, per a county medical examiner’s news release. Cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma and the manner was accidental.

WSP detectives are seeking any information and/or witnesses to the collision as well as information regarding any prior observations of a pedestrian walking along Highway 3 in the area prior to the collision.
