The cause of death of a wanted Port Orchard felon who shot at Bremerton police Friday following a car chase won’t be released publicly until Wednesday.

Coroner Greg Sandstrom said Monday the results of an investigation of the death of Kyle L. K. Hoapili, 27, would be released by the Washington State Patrol, which is investigating the incident. Hoapili reportedly shot at Bremerton police officers following a car chase in Bremerton. Hoapili was found dead a short time later.

Hoapili had a “no bail” arrest warrant from the state Department of Corrections, which drew the attention of a Kitsap County sheriff’s deputy who initiated the pursuit.

Trooper Todd Bartolac, a spokesman for the State Patrol, said investigators are still waiting on ballistic reports from the state crime lab and would release the findings of the autopsy Wednesday.
