INDIANOLA — Emergency crews responded to a call on Indianola Road on March 23 for a woman who was hit by a truck, but arrived to discover that the woman was injured when she stepped out of the vehicle as it was moving, and was then ran over by the same truck.
The 911 call was made at 9:48 a.m. after the driver of a truck called to notify paramedics that the 34-year-old female passenger in his vehicle exited it as it was moving in the 23000 block of Indianola Road.
“As they were driving down Indianola Road, she unbuckled her seatbelt, opened her door and stepped out of the vehicle as it was moving,” said Sgt. Ken Dickenson of the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. “(The driver) stopped immediately, jumped out and ran to her, and called 911.”
The after falling from the truck, it ran over the woman.
Paramedics quickly transported the woman to the nearby Indianola ballfield where a helicopter met them. The woman was then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
