Woman found dead in Kitsap jail ID’d

Ruptured cerebral aneurysm led to death

An inmate scheduled to be released from the Kitsap County Jail the morning of July 3 was found dead in her room, a release from the sheriff’s office says.

The 46-year-old woman had been arrested by Bremerton police June 30 on a charge of fourth-degree assault linked to a domestic violence case.

The woman has been identified as Rhonda L. McKelvy. Dr. Lindsey Harle, chief medical examiner, said the autopsy shows cause of death was a subarachnoid hemorrhage, due to a ruptured cerebral aneurysm.

KCSO said that inmates found her unresponsive inside her room, and jail staff arrived and attempted to revive her with CPR.
