Ward currently is interim principal at Vinland Elementary in the North Kitsap School District. Prior to that appointment, Ward worked as director of elementary education and K-12 technology. She also was a principal, administrative support administrator and a teacher in the Kelso School District.

“My experience in various leadership roles illustrates my commitment to student success,” Ward stated in a school district news release following her selection by Superintendent Karst Brandsma.

“I firmly believe in practices that support students, including professional learning communities and positive behavior intervention and supports,” she said. “I am thrilled to join the South Kitsap School District and look forward to serving the staff, students and families at Hidden Creek Elementary.”

Ward earned a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University and a master’s in education from City University. She received her educational leadership endorsement from Lewis and Clark College in 2000.

“Mrs. Ward is a proven and capable principal,” said Deputy Superintendent Jay Villars. “Her vast experience as an administrator, building principal and classroom teacher will be a great resource for our families.

Villars said Ward is experienced in a dual language K-5 environment that he said will be a benefit to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program at Hidden Creek.
