Michael W. Crummer, a 24 year-old Bremerton man wanted by Oregon State Police and the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Department was arrested early this morning after leading law enforcement officers from multiple agencies on a cross county pursuit.
Shortly before midnight, Oregon State Police provided a tip to local law enforcement agencies that Crummer was involved in a vehicle theft and robbery in Oregon and was believed to be headed back into Kitsap County. Crummer allegedly took a black 1996 Ford Mustang on a test drive from a car dealership in Medford, Ore., and failed to return it. Later, he was involved in the robbery of a convenience store in Albany, Ore.
A Bremerton police officer on routine patrol spotted the stolen Ford Mustang at approximately 1:30 a.m. this morning. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.
Bremerton Police officers, Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies, Poulsbo Police officers and Washington State Patrol troopers were involved at various times in the pursuit. The pursuit eventually came to an end as Crummer crossed the Hood Canal Bridge into Jefferson County and struck a set of spike strips which were deployed by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputy. The spikes punctured two of the vehicles tires, disabling the vehicle.
Crummer was taken into custody without incident by Washington State troopers. After complaining of injuries, Crummer was transported to Harrison Memorial Hospital. He was medically cleared, and released into WSP custody. He was transported to the Kitsap County Jail, where he was booked on charges for felony eluding, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools and a felony Department of Corrections Warrant.
Crummer is scheduled to appear in court at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
On Jan. 21, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Department released a wanted bulletin for Crummer, indicating he was wanted in conjunction with other felony crimes and is wanted for questioning involving a current investigation into an assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful imprisonment (domestic violence) and felony harassment (domestic violence).
Crummer has five felony convictions for assault, possessing stolen property, felony eluding and VUCSA (violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act).
