U.S. Naval Undersea Museum

From finding mines to detecting intruders, Navy dolphins and sea lions carry out missions all over the world.

“Marine Mammals: The Navy’s Super Searchers,” the newest exhibit at the U.S. Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, explores these missions and the science behind the animals’ remarkable abilities. Marine mammals are naturally skilled at finding objects underwater and can detect mines and intruders in a fraction of the time it takes human divers and human-made technology. Come for a visit (admission and parking are free!) and discover how the Navy’s marine mammals protect Sailors, ships and bases. For more information, visit www.navalunderseamuseum.org.
