Another arrest was made in connection with a string of local espresso stand burglaries that occurred over the past few months, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson said that two more suspects, a man and woman, were arrested last week after the first suspect, 20-year-old Jarrod A. Carter of South Kitsap, was reportedly identified on surveillance camera footage.
The second suspect is 20-year-old Andrew P. Mosley of Olalla, who was arrested Oct. 9, a day after Carter’s arrest.
Mosley was then booked into Kitsap County Jail on three counts of second-degree burglary and appeared in Kitsap County Superior Court on the charges.
He has since been released on bail.
The third suspect, an 18-year-old woman also from South Kitsap, was arrested on Oct. 9 and booked into jail on nine counts of second-degree burglary and initially held under $25,000.
Wilson said the female suspect is a former girlfriend of Carter and detectives have probable cause to believe she participated in nine of the burglaries he is suspected of committing.
However, Wilson said the suspect was not charged by the Kitsap County Prosecutor’s Office and released from jail the next day.
Wilson provided a timeline of the burglaries attributed to the suspects that occurred in South Kitsap:
• Aug. 20: Natte Latte on State Route 1 6 in Gorst.
• Aug. 21: Jump Start Java on Bethel Avenue, the first of two burglaries at this location.
• Aug. 23: McKean’s Caffeine on Mile Hill Drive.
• Aug. 24: Chug-A-Tug Espresso on Bay Street.
• Aug. 25: Empire Pizza Espresso on Sidney Road.
• Aug. 30: Grinderfest Espresso on Sedgwick Road.
• Oct. 3: Jump Start Java, the second at this location.
• Oct. 5: Buzz Coffee on 1606 SE Van Skiver Road near SR-16.
• Oct. 5: Second Wind Coffee Company on Sidney Road.
Wilson said at least four burglaries of local espresso stands remain unsolved:
• Feb 12: Espresso Gone Wild, SR-16 in Gorst.
• March 12: A Better Bean on Mile Hill Drive.
• March 12: Grinderfest Espresso on Sedgwick Road.
• March 14: Cutter’s Point Coffee at Bethel and Sedgwick roads.
Wilson said that Carter was arrested after a camera mounted inside McKean’s Caffeine on Mile Hill Drive allegedly recorded him breaking in.
“Based on his distinctive tattoos and hat, he was identified,” Wilson said, explaining that Carter is suspected in at least 10 burglaries from Bremerton to South Kitsap — along with one in Mason County — that occurred in the past five months.
All the break-ins occurred at night.
While Wilson said there have been “more than 25 espresso stand burglaries that have occurred within the past several months,” Carter is currently suspected in three that occurred in the city of Port Orchard, four in unincorporated South Kitsap, two in the city of Bremerton and one in the unincorporated area of East Bremerton.
Mosley is suspected in nine.
