POULSBO — With 102 acres at his disposal, Bill Jones has an abundance of trees for the holiday season, even for those last-minute shoppers.

Located at 1795 NE Sawdust Hill Road, Jones Tree Farm carries six variety of firs including noble, Douglas and alpine and even a few pines.

“We carry everything from three feet to 30 feet and everything is $8 a foot,” he said.

Even though the farm was inundated with shoppers the weekend after Thanksgiving, a large selection still remains for those looking for the perfect tree before Santa arrives.

With more than 20 years experience growing trees, Jones said he has begun seeing third generation growth and expects to see a lot more before he even considers retirement.

“I’m the youngest grower in the county, so I’ll be around for a long time,” he said with a smile.

One of the changes in store for next year is an added emphasis on planting more replacement trees than in years past, Jones said.

“It generally takes 10 to 15 years and next year, we’ll be planting a lot more trees,” he said.

While Jones is already eyeing the future, it’s hard to miss the current attractions at the farm. Namely, the draft horse duo of Pancho and Lefty, which provides a wagon-level view of the array of trees that fill the farm.

Driven by Al Whitworth, the pair appears right at home even with the dogs and other critters running around the property.

“You can guess which one’s Lefty,” Whitworth quipped as he prepared to make another loop around the property.

Santa Claus and hot cider are also regulars at the farm and holiday wreaths are available as well.

The farm is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
