Traffic flowing again on Bond Road following dramatic rollover

POULSBO — The tremor that shook Mara Myers’ home Monday afternoon wasn’t from an earthquake.

A Toyota Highlander SUV sheared off a guard rail on Bond Road near little Valley Road at about 4 p.m. and launched over a steep embankment. The vehicle landed on its roof, inches away from a creek. A Poulsbo Fire Department crew helped the driver up the bank to a waiting ambulance. Her condition was not immediately available.

Myers was standing in an upstairs room of her house, a few hundred feet away, when she felt the impact of the collision.

“I felt it though my feet. I thought, ‘Holy smokes, what was that,'” said Myers, who has lived on Bond Road for seven years.

Troy Whitney was driving south on Bond Road just behind the SUV when the collision happened. Whitney said the vehicle veered off the roadway suddenly and struck the end of the guardrail. It tore up several guardrail posts before flipping off the embankment.

“It didn’t even roll, it landed right on the hood,” he said.

The road was blocked until about 5:30 p.m. as crews removed the vehicle.

More details will be posted as they become available.
