Tip-A-Cop benefits the Special Olympics

This Saturday Kitsap County Sheriff deputies will be donning aprons to wait tables and raise funds for Special Olympics Washington.

The event, “Tip-A-Cop,” takes place from noon to 8 p.m. April 12 at Red Robin in Silverdale. Money raised directly benefits Kitsap County Special Olympic athletes.

More than 8,000 athletes, both children and adults, compete in Special Olympics Washington. More than one million athletes compete in Special Olympic programs world wide.

Tip-A-Cop takes place at 32 Red Robin locations throughout Washington state and at more than 350 locations nationwide on the same day.

Last year, Kitsap County deputies collected more than $6,500 in tips.

Tip-A-Cop is part of the year-long campaign, Law Enforcement Torch Run, which raises funding and public awareness for Special Olympics.
