Time tweaked for SR 104 Hood Canal Bridge training closure on Tuesday

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the State Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge will close to vehicular traffic from 11:15 a.m. to around 11:45 a.m.

SHINE – At the request of a local transit system, the Washington State Department of Transportation will modify the timing of an upcoming closure of the State Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge for a training exercise.

On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the State Route 104 Hood Canal Bridge will close to vehicular traffic from 11:15 a.m. to around 11:45 a.m. while crews practice a series of procedures to open the bridge’s draw span and evacuate the bridge deck in the event of severe weather.

The annual training readies crews for winter weather conditions and high winds. Earlier WSDOT announced the closure would begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, however the revised closure time allows a local transit bus to cross the bridge before the training exercise begins.
