Tacoma Vet Center mobile unit coming to Port Orchard

Tacoma Vet Center will deploy a mobile vet center to Port Orchard on Thursday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide counseling services to local combat veterans and their families and referrals for VA Benefits and community resources.

The Department of Veterans Affairs’(VA) Tacoma Vet Center will deploy a mobile vet center to Port Orchard on Thursday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to provide counseling services to local combat veterans and their families and referrals for VA Benefits and community resources.

The mobile unit will be located at the Water Street Boat Ramp, across from Port Orchard City Hall, and veterans can make an appointment by calling (253) 565-7038. Veterans are also welcome for walk-in services.

VA uses Mobile Vet Centers as a way to increase access to counseling services for Veterans and their families in rural and underserved communities across the country. These customized vehicles–which are equipped with confidential counseling space and a state of the art communication package—travel to communities to extend VA’s reach to veterans,

Service members and their families. The mobile units also provide for VA health care VA has 300 Vet Centers serving communities across the country, offering individual and group counseling for Veterans and their families, family counseling for military related issues, bereavement counseling for families who experience an active duty death, military sexual trauma counseling and referral, outreach and education, substance abuse assessment and referral, employment assessment and referral, VA benefits explanation and referral, and screening and referral for medical issues including traumatic brain injury and depression.
