Local law enforcement officials were still searching this week for a man who robbed a local bank branch late Tuesday afternoon, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson, the robbery occurred at the Bank of America office located inside the Safeway grocery store on Bethel and Lund in South Kitsap.

At around 4:15 p.m., the suspect stepped up to the teller and demanded money, but did not display a weapon. Wilson said the robber then obtained an undisclosed amount of money and left the store.

He said the suspect was last seen getting into a white, four-door sedan of medium size, then heading south on Bethel Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-9 to 5-10, with a tall, thin build. He is assumed to be in his early-to-mid 20s.

He was wearing blue jeans and a black, fur-lined jacket with the hood up over his head.

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate the robbery.
