Still time for summer reading program

Kitsap Regional Library’s Summer Reading Program nears the home stretch.

Kitsap Regional Library’s Summer Reading Program nears the home stretch.

From Aug. 1 forward, there are few new registrations and the emphasis turns toward encouraging children and teens who are already registered to complete at least 10 hours of reading so they are eligible to receive a book and a ticket to the Kitsap County Fair.

So far, more than 1,300 kids have registered at the four large KRL branches. Sylvan Way doubled registered participants. More than 300 children and teens have signed up for the program using online registration through the Digital Branch.

Young readers that sign up via the Digital Branch must go to a branch library to verify completion of the program and to obtain their book and fair ticket.
