Pracha presents her new works that spring from this fertile source at Collective Visions Gallery in Bremerton in an exhibit that runs through April.

“Spring Flowers and Other Things” includes landscapes and portraiture, both done in pastels. They focus on the “forests, flowers and the soft colors of spring.”

“I enjoy working in pastel because it’s a drawing medium and as such keeps me working on my very basic skills,” she said. “Good drawing skills are important for landscapes and portraits. Working from dark to light, I build up layers — a technique that works the same in pastels or oils, landscapes or portraiture. Being an artist is a creative journey, requiring persistence and patience that only happens through the doing of the work and that’s the best part.”

Synnove is happy to share her skills, and offers workshops in pastel portraiture and landscapes.

“Spring Flowers and Other Things” opens with a reception for the artist during First Friday, 5-8 p.m. April 7 at Collective Visions Gallery, 331 Pacific Ave., Bremerton.
