Spring art is in the air

Old Town Silverdale Art Walk March 10.

Daffodils and crocuses have bravely poked their heads up out of the frozen ground, and now there’s another sure sign of spring on the horizon — the spring edition of the quarterly Old Town Silverdale Art Walk takes place 6-8 p.m. March 10 in the neighborhood surrounding Waterfront Park in Silverdale.

Eleven artists will display their works in eight venues, and five businesses not officially part of the Art Walk, but very much a part of the neighborhood will be displaying work as well.

It will be dark by the time art walkers have visited all the sites, but they should still be easy to find. Just look for the brightly lit businesses with people milling around. Maps of the area will be available at all stops.

Grape Expectations, at 3594 NW Byron, is a good place to begin while admiring the photography of Amanda Davidson. To get there go south past the Kitsap Mall on Silverday Way, then turn left at Byron, following the signs to Waterfront Park. Grape Expectations is on the first block, left hand side.

Over venues and artists are:

✤ Jeanette’s Old Town

Flowers, Adrienne

Daugherty, watercolors and

Sharron Marquez, jewelry.

✤ The Lighthouse Cafe and

Wine Bar, Dick Daugherty,

watercolors.

✤ Pages Books, Gary and

Alina Gridley, fused glass

and Maggie Huft, watercolor

and ink.

✤ Care Solutions, Zoe Young,

watercolor and ink.

✤ Ronaldo & Co., Mark

Hoppman.

✤ Linda’s Knit & Stitch, Nina

Beheim.

✤ Sass with Class, Jeff

Burgess.

Independent galleries and business along the walk are Monart School of the Arts, Inner Winds, Expansion Yoga, The Bead Garden and A Company of Friends.

Cheryl Millard, owner of Inner Winds, 3492 NW Byron, wants to make the Art Walk more “guy friendly,” and will be showing fishing flies hand tied by herself and Xavier Chueca Millard.

Their flies are works of art, with some taking up to eight hours and using as many as 20 different materials, including exotic feathers.

Other artists showing at Inner Winds are Sara Beckett and Luz Maria Rosas.

The Art Walk also features Kingston artist Evy Halvorsen demonstrating her painting technique at the Port of Silverdale, on Byron.

Several businesses are offering promotions in conjunction with the event. McGregor & Co. is offering 25 percent off select products, and free coffee and cookies. Jeanette’s Old Town Flowers is handing out free roses and Expansions Yoga is giving free mini massages.

The Old Town Silverdale Art Walk takes place from 6-8 p.m. March 10. wu
