Slippery Pig Brewery in downtown Poulsbo recently closed, ownership citing rising costs since the COVID pandemic and struggles with trying to open a new location in Bremerton.
“It was a good 15-year ride,” a Facebook post states from the business announcing the closure. “We want to thank our amazing staff who loved this place more than humanly possible. We are so happy to have been able to raise so many funds for different charities. We are happy our legacy will live on in community events we created, like the Great Poulsbo Beer Run and the Vikingfest Strongman (competition).”
The brewery started in 2010, with sales from its tasting room starting in 2011. Slippery Pig opened the Poulsbo location in 2014, and became a popular venue for live music, entertainment and its beer.
Jan. 17 was one of the last days of business for Poulsbo’s Slippery Pig, which resulted in a large turnout for Karaoke night.
“Last night was nothing short of amazing,” the brewery posted on its Facebook page. “It was awesome to have so many people come out to send us off. It was a great bookend to our grand opening downtown 11 years ago.”
