South Kitsap High School’s Emily Houston, a 14-year-old sophomore, will be competing in the Miss Seattle pageant this weekend for the title of Miss Seattle’s Outstanding Teen 2014.

Pageant will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in the Ikea Performing Arts Center in Renton.

There are six girls competing for the teen title and eight girls competing for the Miss title.

Miss Seattle is a local preliminary of the Miss Washington and Miss America Organizations, for both Outstanding Teen and for the Miss titles.

Houston served as Miss West Sounds’ Outstanding Teen for 2013, having just crowned her successor, Deidra Morris of Chimicum, on Nov. 9 at the Admiral Theatre in Bremerton.

Houston competed earlier this year at the Miss Washington Outstanding Teen pageant and was honored to win the People’s Choice Award.

Houston is a team captain with South Kitsap’s Relay for Life, her team “Knocking Cancer Out of the Park” raised over $1,800 last year for the American Cancer Society and she is hoping to top that again this year.

Tickets to the Miss Seattle Pageant are available at www.brownpapertickets.com (search for Miss Seattle). Tickets are $20 each — if purchased online — or if not sold out is $30 at the door.
