Consultants hired by Kitsap Regional Library continue to study the feasibility of raising enough private money to build a new Silverdale Branch Library.

KRL had proposed building a new, 17,500-square-foot Silverdale Library when it offered a levy for voter consideration in 2010. The levy was defeated and KRL explored other ways to create a new Silverdale Library. It was determined that raising the funds privately would be the most viable option.

The study is expected to be completed and submitted to the KRL Board of Trustees at its scheduled Sept. 27 meeting.

The report is expected to determine the community’s capacity and willingness to donate funds for a new Silverdale Library, as well as if the community would prefer KRL to build a new facility or renovate existing commercial space in Silverdale.
