The Chico neighborhood has been cut from proposed Silverdale boundaries after incorporation supporters received pushback from Chico residents at a public meeting earlier this month.

“It eliminated a lot of people who thought they were part of Chico, and not Silverdale,” said Marcus Hoffman, spokesman for Citizens United for Silverdale, the pro-incorporation committee. “You have to respond to what the community is saying.”

The updated boundary is just south of Newberry Hill Road, drawing a horizontal line from Dyes Inlet west to Roundup Lane. The new southwest boundary of the proposal is at the south border of Emery Ridge, still including that neighborhood in the proposed city, Hoffman said.

On Wednesday, Carl Johnson, treasurer for the committee, said the updated boundaries for the proposed city of Silverdale will be re-submitted to the county Thursday. This would restart the incorporation process.

Once the county auditor assigns the petition a number and determines the population within the proposed boundary, proponents have 180 days to gather at least 10 percent of signatures from those living in that area.

The committee still plans to have the measure on the ballot for voters in spring 2012.
