Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies and Washington State Patrol troopers responded to a report of an armed robbery shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at the Dollar Tree on Silverdale Way in Silverdale.

Upon arrival, the deputies and troopers found two employees and one customer locked inside the manager’s office of the dollar store.

The 25-year-old employee said she was working at a cash register near the entrance at the time of the robbery. The store was getting ready to close and she was checking out a sale for the 29-year-old customer when two African American men entered the building.

The cashier said one of the men drew a silver handgun, pointed it at her and ordered, “Open the register.” She said she tried to open the register but was shaking and the man told her to “quit playing.”

The woman finally opened the register and the man ordered her to fill a plastic bag he had with money, according to police reports.

She filled the bag and was told to open the manager’s office. She told the man she did not have a key for that room and he ordered her to get the manager. Just then the 42-year-old employee emerged from the rear of the store and was ordered to unlock the manager’s office. The cashier and customer were ordered to lie on the floor and one of the suspects took the customer’s wallet.

The 42-year-old employee unlocked the safe in the manager’s office and was ordered to stay on the floor while the two men took cash from the store safe.

The men fled before law enforcement arrived and none of the victims could describe the men well, according to police reports. The African American men had bandanas over their faces.

There are no suspects or evidence from the Dollar Tree robbery at this time.
