Bundle up, grab a can of food and head to Silverdale Friday evening. The Old Town Silverdale Art Walk is Dec. 8, and donations to the food bank will be rewarded with a free cookie at Monica’s Waterfront Bakery.

Thirteen artists will be displaying their works in nine businesses in the Old Town area, bordered by Byron Way to the south, Silverdale Way to the west, Bucklin Hill Road to the north and Bayshore Drive to the east. The exception to this grid is a new addition to the tour, the glass studio of Lisa Stirret, which is just across Silverdale Way at 3656 Munson St.

Eight independent galleries are also participating.

The show features the Best of Show artists of each previous Art Walk this year and members of the organizing committee. Best of Show artists are Amanda Davidson, spring; Jackie Bush Turner, summer and Meaghan Menth, fall.

The walk starts earlier this time, with a “sneak preview” from 5-6 p.m., followed by the official start time of 6 p.m. It runs until 8 p.m.

Organizer Sue Dixon said the sneak preview is an opportunity for elderly people, and those unable to come later, a chance to take in the art. The sneak preview is open to the public and free, as is the rest of the walk.

In addition to the artists the tour includes a strolling Santa, live music and special promotions at several of the shops.

Classical guitarist August Huelle will perform at Sass with Class, violinist Earl Rice plays Christmas Carols at K&M Designs, the Emerald Heights Elementary School Choir sings at Lisa’s Glass Studio, from 6-6:30 p.m. only, and there will be live music at Linda’s Knit and Stitch.

Promotions include free long stemmed roses at Jeanette’s Old Town Flowers (one per customer), a drawing for a $50 gift certificate at McGregor’s & Co., a 50 percent off purchase discount at Pages Books (with restrictions), a chocolate fountain at Sass with Class, a drawing for a month of free art classes at Monart School of Art, and the aforementioned food drive. Remember, food banks also need non-food items such as toiletries.
