POULSBO — Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives have identified a suspect believed to have been involved in the burglary of a North Kitsap residence on Dec. 5.

Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson said detectives — “through detailed investigative work” — identified the suspect as Hayden David Armstrong Nunes, 21.

Armstrong Nunes is described as a white male, 5 feet 9 inches, 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on his left hand, right arm and right shoulder.

“This suspect is known to use his name in a variety of combinations as aliases,” Wilson reported.

According to Wilson, Armstrong Nunes has felony convictions for first-degree theft, two counts of third-degree assault, and second-degree burglary.

A felony warrant for Armstrong Nunes’ arrest was issued Dec. 8 by Kitsap County District Court for first-degree burglary and theft of a firearm. Bail was set at $150,000.

“Additionally, there is an outstanding, no bail, felony warrant of arrest for Armstrong Nunes issued by the Washington State Department of Corrections for escape from community custody,” Wilson reported.

Around 10 a.m. on Dec. 5, Armstrong Nunes allegedly entered an occupied home in the 5400 block of NE Laura Loop in Suquamish and became involved in a physical confrontation with the homeowner. The suspect is believed to have sustained a serious injury to his hand from a large knife or sword, Wilson reported.

The homeowner later determined that several family firearms were missing, believed stolen by Armstrong Nunes, Wilson reported.

The suspect asked for help at a neighboring house, but left before sheriff’s patrol deputies could arrive, Wilson reported. He fled southbound on foot and was last observed at the Longhouse Texaco convenience store, 15915 State Highway 305 NE, Poulsbo.

The Longhouse store’s security surveillance system shows that the suspect approached a male customer refueling his vehicle and solicited a ride. The customer provided transportation for the suspect, leaving the store premises and heading northbound on Highway 305 toward the City of Poulsbo.

Detectives are interested in speaking with the driver of this vehicle, described as a smaller, gold passenger car. The vehicle refueled at pump No. 4 sometime between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., Dec. 5. The driver of this vehicle is not considered an accomplice or suspect, Wilson reported.

The Sheriff’s Department asks that persons with information about this burglary call Detective Chad Birkenfeld, 360-337-5619; or Detective Ray Stroble, 360-337-5614; or contact Kitsap County Central Communications (9-1-1 dispatch) at 360-308-5400.

Information may also be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound:1-800-222-TIPS (8477) OR text 486 + message to: 274637 (Crimes).
