Severe weather shelters open through Jan. 3

Both shelters will be open 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. Dec. 31 through Jan. 3. Guests will not be able to check into the shelter after 9 p.m. The locations are: The Salvation Army, 832 6th St., Bremerton; Kingston Community Center, 1212 NE Highway 104, Kingston.

The Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management has activated the county’s Severe Weather Shelter Plan because of freezing temperatures.

Both shelters will be open 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. Dec. 31 through Jan. 3. Guests will not be able to check into the shelter after 9 p.m. The locations are: The Salvation Army, 832 6th St., Bremerton; Kingston Community Center, 1212 NE Highway 104, Kingston.

Those needing transportation to a shelter can obtain fare vouchers for Kitsap Transit buses.
