Seven vie for Miss Viking Fest tiara

POULSBO — Seven young ladies will put their spin on the age-old phrase “Velkommen to Little Norway” Friday night as they compete for the eighth annual Miss Viking Fest crown at Christ Memorial Church. The pageant begins at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the contestants and at 1st Security Bank in Poulsbo Village. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger.

The ladies attempting to succeed Miss Viking Fest 2006 Jasmine Campbell are:

• Kirstie Schroeder, daughter of Rob and Linda Hyter of Poulsbo, is a 16-year-old junior at North Kitsap High School. Schroeder is involved in her church choir, drama and is on the honor roll. She is sponsored by MD Electronics and Jungle Tan.

• Amber Mathisen, daughter of Terry and Tami Mathisen of Poulsbo, is an 18-year-old NKHS junior and is the Running Start program at Olympic College. Mathisen is involved in Daughters of Norway, dancing and plays the cello. She is sponsored by Peninsula Violin Co. and EHL Insurance.

• Jessica Buss, daughter of Carrie Lynne of Poulsbo, is a 16-year-old NKHS sophomore. Buss is involved in the Lifesavers Club, volunteers at Saint Olaf child care center and works part-time at a local restaurant.

She is sponsored by Wild Horse BBQ, and Dr. Benjamin Chudner.

• Whitney Glebe, daughter of Robert and Wendy Glebe of Poulsbo, is a 17-year-old NKHS senior. Glebe is involved in swimming, lacrosse, honor roll, and gymnastics. She is sponsored by Bella Luna Pizzeria.

• Alisa Foresee, daughter of Jerry and Kathi Foresee of Poulsbo, is a 16-year-old NKHS sophomore. Foresee is involved in L.I.N.K, S.A.D.D. and Lifesavers. She is sponsored by Arbys and Almond Properties.

• Alyssa Walker, daughter of Joe and Barb Walker of Poulsbo, is a 16-year-old NKHS sophomore. She is involved in honor roll, ASB, soccer and youth group. She is sponsored by Dairy Queen of Poulsbo and Montclair Park.

• Amanda Dixon, daughter of Eddy and Jackie Dixon, is an 18-year-old NKHS senior. Dixon is involved in FFA, teen mentoring and is on the committee for the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis walk in Poulsbo. She is sponsored by Cenex and the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Guild.
