The Kingston High School KEY/Interact Club hosted a “red carpet” evening Feb. 9 with Greater Kingston Kiwanis and Kington Rotary members.
The potluck and trivia night was a time to celebrate the rebuilding of the school club and for students to share their vision of the future.
Students under the leadership of president McLean Bowers, vice president Ariana Hurtado, secretary/media specialist Genevieve Upton and treasurer Ameena Deller have reinvigorated the school clubs by combining them to make a viable and visible service organization. The clubs were inactive during COVID, but with school back in session, the students are pursuing service to the school and community.
The club is open to all students. Lori Camp is faculty advisor, and Diane Van Diest of Kiwanis and Emily Froula of Rotary are club liaisons.
Scholarship time
Scholarship applications are now open for the class of 2023. The Greater Kingston Kiwanis Foundation offers a variety of scholarships for graduating high school seniors to assist in tuition assistance for post-secondary education, including any accredited college, junior or community college, or technical/vocational institution.
Through our scholarships, we want to acknowledge students who have demonstrated community service that highlight positive character, citizenship and self-reliance or who merit acknowledgment for special achievement in overcoming obstacles during their academic career.
Applications are available on the Greater Kingston Kiwanis website and must be submitted no later than April 14. Visit greaterkingstonkiwanis.weebly.com.
