NKHS Athletic Medicine students compete at state championships

Several students from the North Kitsap High School Athletic Medicine program competed in the State Sports Medicine Championships in Redmond April 17 and 18. Forty-two teams from across the state competed for the championship. The NKHS team finished sixth overall. In individual competition, 436 students competed. The NKHS results were as follows:

Rose Bissonnette – 5th

Meghan O’Hara – 7th

Brandi Ritter – 42nd

Nikki Taplin – 47th

Megan Herndon – 99th

Tia Harvey – 151st

AJ Ziemann – 177th

Alex Ray – 207th

Bissonnette and O’Hara also finished second and third, respectively, out of 138 seniors in the top senior competition.

Competition at the Sports Medicine Championships involves three written exams on the state sports medicine curriculum and one hands-on oral-practical exam.

Swing for the Lights at KHS

Kingston Rotary hosts the third annual “Swing for the Lights Golf Challenge” June 19 at White Horse Golf Course to help raise money for the installation of lights at Kingston High School. Each team will be provided with greens fees, a cart and range balls. Lunch before tee-off will also be provided. Burgers and beverages will be served after the tournament. Each player can also compete in the Closest to the Pin, Long Drive and Hole-In-One competitions. Last year the Hole-In-One prize was a new car.
