Roadwork planned on Chico Way

A road improvement project on Chico Way NW from the State Route 3 interchange to the Silverdale Way NW roundabout begins on July 11.

SILVERDALE — A road improvement project on Chico Way NW from the State Route 3 interchange to the Silverdale Way NW roundabout begins on July 11.

The 2.26-mile project will restore the existing pavement on Chico Way and increase the service life of the roadway, county public information officer Doug Bear reported.

“The project involves removing two inches of existing asphalt in the travel lanes and replacing it with two inches of new asphalt,” Bear reported. “This will result in a safer driving surface for the traveling public.

“The construction activities are confined to the existing paved areas within the project limits.”

One lane of traffic will be maintained in the work zone throughout the project. A pilot car will guide traffic through the work area. Motorists can expect delays of up to 20 minutes in the immediate vicinity of the work during the project, Bear reported.

Immediate access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Crews will maintain access to driveways, except for a brief period when fresh asphalt must be allowed to cool, according to Bear.

The project is expected to be completed in early August. The work is being done by Lakeside Industries and is fully funded by the Federal Highway Administration.
