POULSBO — Republicans across Washington state gather together on Saturday, 9 a.m. to join in their party’s caucus and present a big prize to the candidates for the Republican presidential nomination: 40 delegates and some momentum going into Super Tuesday.

Caucuses are meetings of members of a political party to discuss national, state and local candidates, the party’s platform, and issues facing the state and Kitsap County. Republicans at caucus will elect their precinct delegates to the Republican County Convention, which will be held on April 21.

For the candidates for the Republican presidential nomination, Saturday is a big day: Washington’s caucus comes just three days before Super Tuesday, when 10 states hold primaries and caucuses. All four major Republican presidential candidates have campaigned in Washington state.

Kitsap County Republican Party Chairman Jack Hamilton said statewide results will be known by 5 p.m. and reported on the state party website.

Here’s the location of North Kitsap caucuses (the list is incorrect in the latest North Kitsap Herald, page A11). Visit www.kitsaprepublicans.com for a complete list of caucus locations.
