NORTH KITSAP — The North Kitsap Puget Sound Anglers (NKPSA) is offering a $1,000 scholarship for the 2018-2019 school year.

NKPSA is the local chapter with more than 125 members who are active in the community. The Legacy Project was just completed with several thousand salmon eggs hatching and making their way up the Hood Canal.

Each year, veterans are honored with a fishing derby where members take them out for a day on the water. This new scholarship will be given to a student whose major field of study will promote, protect and enhance our marine environment.

Students who will be enrolled in a four-year college, two-year certificated program or advanced degree are urged to apply. The deadline is May 1. Contact Diane Quayle, scholarship chairman, at seacovey1@gmail.com for a broad list of majors and details for applying.
