The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard will be practicing its environmental oil spill response training on Thursday, June 30.

During the 8:30-11 a.m. exercise, personnel will deploy oil-spill response equipment in Sinclair Inlet near the east end of the shipyard and in the vicinity of the Port Orchard Marina. PSNS said the exercise will not interfere with the Kitsap Transit Foot Ferry operation.

The facility conducts periodic exercises in order to train on and assess the operational readiness of its facility response equipment.

Some exercise activities may be visible to the public, shipyard officials said.

For more information about the exercise, call the PSNS Public Affairs office at 360-476-7111.
