PORT ORCHARD — Givens Community Center will be closed indefinitely after the building experienced a significant power failure on Aug. 1.

As a result of the electrical disruption, the Discovery Montessori School and Connection Credit Union will be closed.

Kitsap County reported in a news release Aug. 1 that it is coordinating with Puget Sound Energy to restore to the building, at 1026 Sidney Rd. in Port Orchard. Repairs were expected to continue through the end of the week on Aug. 4, but may be finished sooner.

The county said it will issue an update on Aug. 4, or if repairs are completed earlier.

The following services at the Givens Community Center are among those affected:

Givens Senior Center

Closed as of Aug. 2 until power is restored.

Senior luncheon set for Aug. 7 will be canceled if there is no power.

The front window will be staffed to answer questions.

Case management staff will be working at alternate locations.

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman program is still operational and may be reached at 360-337-5714.

Kitsap Recovery Center

Kitsap Recovery Center Outpatient Services will remain open for group and individual counseling.

As of Aug. 3, urine analysis clients can go to the Kitsap Recovery Center, 661 Taylor St., Port Orchard. Call 360-337-4625 with questions.
